(sigh) I just love my little Thai kids. I had the chance to help out with 2 English classes and a math class today in 6th grade. I loved it! So we're working on fluency in English, and Teacher David has the most amazing way to do so--singing! I walked in the classroom, and I swear I thought I'd walked into a live version of "A Christmas Story." You know, when the family ends up at a Chinese restaurant and the servers are trying to sing "Deck the Halls" (Fa ra ra ra ra ra ra ra ra...) Don't even act like you don't know exactly what I'm talking about. So yeah, my kids performed their Christmas carols for a grade today. I heard those little goofballs sing "Hark the Haaaawold Angel Sing! Glooooweee toooo da new boooown kiiiing" over and over again, and it was awesome! And then we sang songs from "A Nightmare Before Christmas." Absolutely hilarious. And it was awesome being able to work in the classroom today and talk to the teachers. Hearing the individual stories of each student with disabilities, struggles, successes, and such is so great. There's one kid with Asburgers who evidently never talks to anyone, but he recently found a catipillar, so he was showing us teachers and just talking up a storm about it! It was adorable to see his excitement and how he was coming out of his shell, and I especially enjoyed the delighted looks of the surprised teachers. I also have a kid with a permanent smile plastered on his face. Teacher David explained that it's a genetic disease that literally makes it impossible for this kid to not smile. His brother and his mom have the same disease! And I bet you can't guess what his nickname is...Joker. (I feel bad laughing, but that's just morbidly funny.) Oh, and there's a kid in my math class from Atlanta...I thought his English was a little more advanced than the rest of them. Haha. Cheater. I just love all my babies. I'm already giving up on knowing their names...Ok...the office that Allison and I work in is literally going to be The Office
We had a farewell dinner for Mama Jo tonight. It was on top of the tallest building in Bangkok--83 floors! We went all the way up to the top to experience the revolving roof. That was pretty cool because we a
So, I think I can openly admit this. Maybe I wore my dark red shirt today in honor of the BCS National Championship game. Haha. And maybe I'm ridiculous, too. I'm just gonna say that this game is one of the biggest things I'm missing from home. Gosh I wish I could watch it live with my friends and eat a normal 2am Krystal #1 afterward. Ok, that's all I'm going to say about that...I'm gonna stop before I get emo. I really am torturing myself over this. If only I could just turn my brain off to all things back home...
I'm out.
