Day 13: We Wear Purple On Wednesdays...

I don't know if I've said this yet...but Bangkok Christian College's colors are PURPLE and gold. It's seriously like a purple heaven...it's everywhere! Yeah Epsilon! Whenever I take my camera to school, expect to see lots of E's being thrown up by all my cute Thai boys! So on Wednesdays, we get to wear our BCC shirts (purple of course) with black Adidas pants. It's pretty much awesome...teaching in PE clothes is so much more fun than being in a freakin' pencil skirt. I've never been one to enjoy dressing up cute everyday. Sucks I chose a profession where I have to do that. Why wasn't I a PE teacher? Oh wait...on that note. Our office decided that Allison and I looked like lesbian softball coaches today in our BCC polos and black swish pants. Haha...so funny because we made that joke ourselves, and the gay guy in the office was the one who busted out laughing the loudest. (That was so unprofessional of me to blog about, but I really just couldn't resist. It was too funny.) OMG, speaking of um...not straight things. I for sure have a future Lady Boy in one of my classes. It's crazy how you can tell when they're so young. But seriously. Ok that's all I'm going to say about that.

These Asian kids are ridiculously smart. They intimidate the crap out of me when I get up to teach. I mean, I'm pretty good at math and science, but I feel like such a retard when I try to teach them. Those little snots are better at it than I am! It's quite a humbling experience being a teacher of geniuses, but somebody's gotta do it. I'm learning the arts of "team teaching" and "concept checking" this week. I'm really excited that I'm learning a lot that will benefit me in my future classroom. I've already done several lessons on my own...I love it how the teachers are just throwing me in there and letting me do my thaaang. Both of my teachers have commented on my "command of the classroom" (aka: classroom management)...and I must say, I'm 100% sure I get that from my grandmother. My mama always said that I had "that look" that Moppy had. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad...right Madre? ;) But yeah, I'm getting more comfortable with the kids, and I'm loving it. They cheer everytime I even walk toward their classroom. What can I say, I'm a rockstar. (Haha...I for sure just talked about being humbled...and being a rockstar in the same paragraph. I'm straight crazy.)

So anyway...Allison and I tried to straighten our hair today with a straightener we bought of the street last night for $4.50. Welp, that was an example of ya get what ya pay for. Let's just say that our hair was pulled back in a ponytail by the time we rolled into the office this morning. We were already running about 5 minutes late because of the straightening of the hair, but we passed a street cart with waffles, so clearly we had to stop. We thought it was just like, waffles on a stick right...but when we went to bite into them, there was a freakin hotdog inside! We were a little disgusted at first, but then quickly shrugged it off and devoured it. I'm a-ok with a waffle dog every morning from now on. So...about that losing weight? Eh....overrated. Walking 5 miles a day downtown will be enough for me thanks.

We at a Japanese restaurant tonight that was insane. It had a conveyor belt with every kind of sushi and Japanese dish you can imagine. I was stressed almost to tears at first because it was so high-paced and crazy...but after I settled down and gave it a chance it was pretty dang good. Afterward, we pass some sort of Muay Thai boxing match outside of the mall. That was pretty cool.

Well, I'm going to bed. I'm such a grandma now. It's 9:15pm and I'm dead tired. I'm already on that teacher schedule, and that makes me so sad! Hello real world. 6:30am comes awful quick. I guess I'll enjoy that 8 hours of sleep now while I can (ironically in Bangkok) before I return home to Cleveland and stay up all hours of the night before teaching. Haha...because you know I will totally end up doing that. I'm not even going to kid myself on that one.

I'm out.
